Part 2 combines both practical and theoretical components to ensure comprehensive skill development. The practical training includes 8 hours of one-on-one behind-the-wheel instruction, where each student is paired with a dedicated instructor.

If a student does not pass the Part 2 driving test on their first attempt, they will receive an additional 2 hours of practical training.

Part 3 consists of 40 hours of comprehensive training, combining practical and theoretical components to refine your skills.

• Reflection and Review: 7 hours of development sessions to deepen your knowledge and integrate all learning.

This program ensures you are fully equipped for success as a professional instructor.

The DVSA will grant you a provisional license to "teach for reward," enabling you to join BEANS as a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) and start giving lessons. This six-month license allows you to develop your teaching skills while earning income.

You will receive 20 hours of one-on-one in-car training with a BEANS trainer before your Part 3 test.

Once you pass, you can apply to be added to the DVSA register of approved driving instructors.

The Part 3 test assesses your ability to instruct during a one-hour session, where an examiner evaluates your client-centered teaching approach with either a learner or a licensed driver.

To pass, you must meet the national standard for driver training. Since you are allowed only three attempts for Parts 2 and 3, selecting the right training school is essential for those aspiring to become driving instructors.
